The Enmity Unveiled: Dive into Aetolia's Latest Storyline

Dear Aetolians,

It's already March and a lot has already happened in the world of Aetolia, so let's get you caught up!

The Enmity of Varach Scolrys

The ancient Hlugnic city of Qor Qogol revealed itself to the world once more, declaring war against Bloodloch and Djeir in a bid to retake their ancestral homelands. Things further escalated with the involvement of Varach Scolrys, the dread necromancer and Court Mage of Qor Qogol, whose noxious plagues had afflicted the continent just a decade prior. With graveyards desecrated at Varach's command, and skeletons pulled from the earth to march at his behest, the city of Enorian and the Duiran Council entered into an uneasy alliance with Bloodloch to combat the risen threat.

In an unexpected turn, the city of Spinesreach instead chose to ally with Qor Qogol, and the stage was set for a war between six nations: Qor Qogol and Spinesreach versus Bloodloch, Duiran, Enorian and Djeir. Though the latter forced Spinesreach's surrender, the conflict reached its climax in the coastal town of Mournhold, where Varach Scolrys enacted a profane ritual with the help of Spinesreach to summon Lanu Du, the mad Faceless One of Chaos. As the eldritch god made its madness felt on the Prime Material Plane, the divine powers of Celezor, Slyphe, Haern, Euthymius, and Bamathis united to beat back the tide of insanity. In the aftermath, Varach Scolrys, now ascended as a Chaos Lord, seized the Demon Blade for himself, claiming it as a cultural treasure of his people.

The realm holds its breath as it awaits Varach's next move - it is a great time to login and help shape this evolving story!

Combat Updates

There was a large classlead round recently, bringing with it a wide breadth of updates to various classes, as suggested and supported by you, the players! Alongside these, there have been many other changes that have shaken up the combat scene recently. Here are some of the biggest points:

Class Refreshes

Several classes received additional focused updates to improve their viability, with some of the most significant changes being for Indorani/Oneiromancer and especially Monk! Read here and here for all the details.

Elixir Changes

The frost elixir and antivenin elixir (also known as the venom elixir) were retired, and two new elixirs were introduced in their place: the arcane elixir and the harmony elixir. The arcane elixir provides you with additional resistances, while the harmony elixir lets you temporarily see all curatives your target is using even when you are rooms apart.

Wisdom Stat

That's right, we now have a new stat alongside strength, dexterity, intelligence and constitution: the wisdom stat! Wisdom affects the length of stun and blackout and increases the damage of your knowledge-sourced attacks. Knowledge-sourced attacks include certain technology and mechanical-based attacks such as bombcrafting. Wisdom will be responsible for scaling the damage used by tech and gadgets for new classes to come!

Statpack Changes

With the introduction of a new stat, every statpack was reviewed and changed, and the options are now much more varied. We have allowed you to change your statpack whenever you want to explore these changes and figure out what works best, but this is a temporary allowance, so don't miss out on the opportunity!

Rewrite of Necromancy Messages

Also as part of the ongoing events, the powers of Necromancy have transformed as a result of Varach Scolrys' influence upon them! Nearly every skill message in Necromancy was completely rewritten, bringing these twenty-year-old messages to the standard of quality that you have all come to expect from modern-day Aetolia!

As always, there's no better time to login than the present. Come check out all the changes for yourself, and then suit up to take part in our ongoing event. We hope to see you there!

Best regards,

Razmael, Keroc, Emellan, and the entire Aetolia team.
